Well it's almost been a year since I made an entry to my blog here and so much has happened. Let's start with January. I had a high blood pressure scare that led me to start working out again and loose some weight. In January I lost almost thirty pounds working out daily and changing my diet. My blood pressure returned to a healthy level and all seemed good. 10 lbs. came off when I got the flu for the first time in three years! Not my choice for weight loss, I assure you.
In March, I started have knee problems again and went to visit the doctor to see what my options were. As it turned out, I was bone on bone in both knees and required surgery in the one that was paining me the most. The surgery would be my eighth and the most invasive. On May 20th I had a partial knee replacement on my right knee. They cut my femur and tibia and placed an Oxford prosthesis on the interior part of my knee. I am forty six and it's a little early for an entire knee replacement and this should buy me about eight to ten years. Hopefully. After 65 days of rehab, I am slowly getting back to a daily routine. And that means photography!
My photography has grown over the past year and I feel it's become better. My favorite subject remains flowers but I always look for different things to shoot... keeping my options open. Since my knee isn't completely healed, I've been stuck close to home unable to hike the mountains just yet. I do have a wonderful place to shoot in the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens. They have just added a spectacular three story glass 8000 square foot Orchid house filled with amazing exotic orchids and tropical plants. This place has become my haunt being only an hour from my house. The grounds of the garden also hold many opportunities from butterflies, flowers to hummingbirds. I have plans for a mountain hike in September in search for waterfalls... stay tuned to see where I end up!
Cheers!
